What can I say? I really enjoyed drawing Hallren’s nightmare. It’s not often I get to draw something so messy and gritty, and very emotionally driven!

Also. Happy new year! Last year I took a break from making goals as I was focusing on my health. But with us rolling into 2026, I’ve decided it’s time to start making goals again—especially with art! Yay! One of my goals is to complete a page of Eldair each week. I know some people like getting updates in bigger chunks, so I’m still deciding on how I want to post updates—whether it’s 1 page at a time like I used to, or save up and posting in bigger chunks. I’ll likely be sending out a poll on how readers would prefer to get updates in the near future. Either way, I should start updating a bit more consistently. :D

Sometimes it’s the little things that make a big impact.

While I was working on this chapter, I felt that something was missing. I really wanted Hallren and Victorious to have some sort of meaningful interaction, but I wasn’t sure what. Hallren doesn’t have a very solid father-figure in his life and I wanted to give Victorious a chance to step forward into that role for him. But their initial meeting was hard for me to nail down.

I kept running through different ideas as I kept working on pages until I finally hit the point of “If I’m gonna put this missing piece in, it’s gotta be now or never.” So I had to take a pause and really figure out what I wanted this scene to be and I eventually landed on this.

Hallren was not excited about Iva leaving him with this strange woman. Fortunately, Iva is a pretty decent judge of character so she knew she was leaving Hallren in good hands.

I'm hoping that I can start updating regularly soon. But I can't know for sure yet. My health journey is a bit of a roller coaster and when I think I'm at the end and all better, there always seems to be another thing that needs my attention. Massive progress has been made this summer - I can now eat just about everything with no bad reactions, which is significant for me. But there's other things that I'm still working on. But I'm hoping now that kids are in school I have more time to spend on both my health and some art.

Anyways, all that to say, wish me luck and I'm crossing my fingers that art will come more easily soon!

Well, this page took a lot longer to do than I anticipated. I always want to procrastinate backgrounds cause they take so long and I find them tedious. XD

This summer has turned out a bit different than expected for sure. I’ve been focusing very deeply on my health and the health of my family. I’ve found myself on an unexpected path of healing that has pulled at the very threads of my identity, unraveling deeply rooted lies I’ve believed for the vast majority of my life. The last few weeks have felt like I’ve been deep-cleaning my mind and identity, pulling out everything into the open. The process has been messy, uncomfortable, and liberating as I dig through the clutter and grime, throwing away things that have held me down for so long, and revealing beautiful glimmers of light that live inside my soul.

Such life-changing things take time. As I stated in a previous Webtoons update, I planned on focusing on my health this year. So I may have to take a break this summer from updating Eldair (and possibly Temerity) as I continue down this path and reshape my life and future. But I’m hoping as I pour all my focus and attention into my health this summer, I will emerge a stronger, better, happier, healthier, and more creative person once mid-August rolls around.

I am deeply grateful for your patience as I work through things. And perhaps, in time, I’ll be able to share some of this incredible journey I’m going through with you through my art and stories.

With such an announcement, it’s probably strange to plug my Kickstarter that is currently running. But I gotta finish what I started, and the project still needs funding even while I go through a personal health transformation. The campaign is currently 75% funded and could use your help!

So this page is a little special in that I had another artist, Gentle Dragon, actually assist with the lineart. This was a test page to see if she could help speed up my process but still keep the style close enough to my other pages. I think it turned out pretty good and it saved me a couple hours of work. I sent her a storyboard and she did the pencils. Then I inked the faces and she then inked the rest of the page. So it was a very collaborative back-and-forth process. I'm hoping that together we can build up a buffer of pages once she's available for more work!

I debated on how these two would talk to each other on this page, particularly, what language they would speak. The lazy part of me was thinking they'd just be speaking human, but I realized that Iva would be speaking elvish cause she subconsciously wants Hallren to be at ease. However, Hallren would be incredibly hesitant to speak his native tongue. He'd speak human, just to be safe.

Anyways, these are the random things I think about while spending long hours drawing. lol
