Looks like Embera has been practicing hard at her artificing magic!

I’m really excited to dive into this chapter! Hopefully I can keep up with creating a page ever week for a while and posting every two weeks. Enjoy this little day with Embera.

On a side note, I’m still a little flabbergasted that we are now on chapter 27! Eldair has long surpassed being the longest project I’ve worked on, but I’m still amazed that I’ve managed to keep this going for so long! It feels pretty good to have created so much of this story!

Rage.

I DID IT! I finally finished this part of Zelda’s Lullaby and I’m so happy it’s up and here for you to read. I had part of this finished for quite a while, but I didn’t want to post anything until I was sure I could continue / at least finish this whole section before being like “HEY I’M BACK!” I didn’t want to lead you on that this project was back on and then disappear.

I’ve got 4 more pages that will go up next week, and that concludes the Spring of Power arc.

While this section is now complete, I don’t know when I will get to sit down and work on this some more. The next group of interludes are in a state of iffy-ness, and I’ve got to figure out where I’m going with them before I can start doing the art. (It’s a rather frustrating state to be ready to dive into the next Spring, but still needing to figure out what goes in between this and the next chapter for continuity and character growth. Bah.)

But this is here. And it’s ready. So here you are. Hopefully this next break isn’t too long. (I do wish I could commit to something, but I don’t dare at this point in time.)

Here. Safe. And Okay.

Thus completes chapter 26! This chapter was such a fun challenge (well, fun most of the time) and I’m glad to see if finally wrapped up. Thanks for your patience as this chapter took a veerryy long time to complete due to the complexity of the chapter, but also things going on in my personal life. This chapter took me through my own personal adventure of pain and healing, which maybe I’ll find the time to write down. But short version is after being sick for over a decade, then getting well, I actually had to relearn how to draw. I had to reshape what used to be a coping mechanism, to fueling my passion to draw with love and joy instead of a means to survive the screaming in my head. If you’ve seen Avatar the Last Airbender, I was Zuko without his fire for some time. But instead of a 20 minute episode, it took about a year to find that fire again. XD Oh, to be an anime.

Anyways, I was going to take a significant break between chapter 26 and 27 in order to revamp all of the Sever arc. But I ended up getting struck with inspiration, and chapter 27 is already in production! So I expect chapter 27 will start updating in about a month. I’ll see you then!

I’m excited to announce that I have a new comic website! My husband has been building this for months now, and it’s now ready to be shown off to the world. He’s still working on a few bugs here and there and he’s still adding in some features, but it’s functioning! It has my entire comic archive up as well as some extra content. And if you log in via the Patreon button, it will unlock all the paid content and track your reading progress! (I am still working to see if we can integrate subscribers on Substack, but they don’t have an API?) It also supports both desktop and mobile reading, depending on what device you’re using when you access the site.

I’m so excited to have this new home for all of my work!

The unspoken anguish in healing.

This last panel was probably one of the most meaningful panels to me that I’ve drawn in this series so far. To be held while weeping from in anguish on the road to healing is such an incredible gift that we can both give and receive.

“Safe” does not always mean things are at peace and calm. But instead, “safe” can mean we can feel the feelings we have without having to hide and feel ashamed of them. It’s not pretending that things are okay when they aren’t. Safe is letting all the anguish, pain, hate, and grief out in its ugliest form and knowing that it’s okay. The people who love us will still be there to hold us and support us.

Healing is not pretty. It’s not easy, peaceful, or organized. Healing is hard. Gut wrenchingly hard.

But it’s also beautiful.

But I have to admit, it turned out pretty dang good. It’s pages like these that make me go... Oh, I HAVE improved as an artist. That’s what makes comics great, they really make you stretch and grow as an artist because you end up drawing things you normally would have avoided at ALL COSTS. XD

Coming up with the sound effect of someone hyperventilating and struggling to breathe is REALLY HARD. There’s no good sounds in our written language that express the sound of choking on your own air. Ugh. Oh well.
